Unfortunately, the shop and online shop will be shut on short term basis. This was a difficult decision to make, but one which was necessary at this moment in time. There are many contributing factors for this decision, which are explained below.
1. The volume of produce that we have sold over the past 3 weeks has been unprecedented. Although the support has been overwhelming and we are extremely grateful, it has put our farm under pressure along with our small producers. Ethical, slow growing and sustainable meat is not limitless and takes time to ensure the quality and best practise is adhered to. The farm, and our partner producers, could not keep up with demand and need a break. A short break will allow them to catch up, which will ensure we get back into routine and are fully stocked for the week in which we open.
2. Along with putting strain on our producers, we have pushed our butchery staff to their limits. We have asked them to work 12-14 hours each day for the past 3 weeks. They have done this without hesitation and have enjoyed serving you all. Although, I do feel that some rest and recuperation is a must now.
3. Thirdly, on a personal note, my wife and I are expecting our second child this week. With all the uncertainty regarding the Covid-19 outbreak I feel it is important that I am home to take care of her and our daughter (Matilda). It is very worrying times for us all, and with pregnant women now within the high-risk category it is paramount I do my utmost to protect and safeguard them.
This is only a short closure. We really do appreciate your support and hope to see you very soon. Please appreciate that this was a very difficult decision, but under these extreme circumstances a necessary one.
